Prayer is two way

God speak to men first

Many of God’s people think prayer is men talking and asking God. They miss the point. God speaking to men first in Psalm one.  Chapter 3 is an example of what we should be praying. The following chapters are the Words of God to mainly men’s souls, some are the teachings of how to make prayer request, that include wait upon Him. All in God’s way. We need to learn patience and learn to become a servant, not master. 

Luke 11:2; And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, “Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.”  It is God’s kingdom and His Will first. The book of Psalms is all about God’s Will, he gave us everything we need, in order to start a true prayer life, they included very details of what to pray in all possible circumstance a person could face in his whole life.

Interaction in prayer

Take Psalm 27 verse 8 for example; When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, Lord, will I seek. The Holy Spirit is reminding what’s in Psalm 4:6; lift up the light of Your face on us. And he is teaching us, more specifically teaching our heart how to respond, so that we may say from our heart: Thy face Lord, will I seek.  The focus is the heart, not the mouth.  The mouth can say it easily, but the heart is difficult to know,  Jeremiah 17:9; The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; who can know it?   Speaking Psalms to our self  is also calling the heart and soul to hear from the Spirit and interact with God. This is the way to purify the inner being with the Word of God. It is men’s spirit communicate to God’s Spirit. It may take many times to make the difference, after that, the heart may truly has the desire to say; Your face, O LORD, I will seek. 

The holy Spirit spoke to us, to our soul, spirit and our mind through many words in the book of Psalms. They are the will of God, they are there to build us up, to give life to our inner newborn spiritual being, not only knowledge in the head. Before making prayer request we should listen and learn what God wants to teach us first. So often people don’t want to know his will, some don’t even care. His will is we speak to our self with Psalms, that is written clearly in Ephesians . By doing so we can learn so much from the word of God which is full of wisdom from God. The first Psalm says meditate his word day and night. Without doing this we may be sinning against the greatest commandment, without even knowing it.
